PEEK - Polyetheretherketone

An advanced engineering plastic with excellent properties

Polyetheretherketone belongs to the group of high performance plastics. PEEK's temperature range goes from -40°C to 250°C with short-lived peaks of up to 300°C. This plastic withstands a heavy load capacity and has excellent chemical resistance.

Add to this the low coefficient of expansion and high material stiffness and it is clear that it offers excellent dimensional stability. PEEK is flame-retardant and food-safe according to the European 10/2011 legislation and the American FDA standard.

How to identify PEEK

Standard PEEK is available in a natural beige colour. PEEK is tough and exceptionally hard. If you wereto knock it with a coin you would hear a clear sound.

PEEK cannot be bent, set or shaped. Due to its wide temperature range, the material will not ignite well.

The technical properties of PEEK

PEEK is the most widely used high performance plastic in mechanical engineering.

The material has a very wide temperature range which runs from -40 to +250 degrees Celsius.

PEEK is very dimensionally stable and therefore widely used for precision parts.

Furthermore, it is characterised by high stiffness and good electrical insulation.
