APET (Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate)

Excellent processing, high-strength and rigidity

APET is a transparent plastic with a wide range of applications. The high impact resistance, excellent vacuum formability and good mechanical properties make this material ideally suited for applications in the advertising industry. Examples include displays, prize stands and poster protection. For sign applications, an opal version with increased UV protection is available.

How to identify APET

APET sheet can be identified in different ways. APET is available in different versions such as clear, opal and anti-reflective.

APET has a specific gravity of 1.34 g/cm 3 and is self-extinguishing. In a fire test you can identify APET by a yellow smoking flame and a sweet smell. Black ash is formed.

What are the main properties of APET?

APET sheets are 150 times stronger than glass in the same thickness. It is also lighter than glass. This means that this material can be used safely and sustainably.

The sheets can be vacuum formed without pre-drying. Extreme deep drawing ratios can be achieved with limited energy.

APET sheets are cold bendable up to 2mm and are characterised by a high chemical resistance.
